Guest of Honour for Boherbue Gael at Cork GAA Association Dinner in New York on Saturday 18th of April 2009.
Boherbue GAA Club would like to congratulate Tom Courtney, formely of Islandave, who is being honoured by the Cork Association in New York on April 18th next.
Since his sojourn in New York, Tom has been the life blood of the G.A.A. there managing the Cork team on a number of occasions
He has been very helpful too, to any local Duhallow or Cork person emigrating to the Big Smoke.
In his former playing days in Boherbue, he was part of the 1972 Junior Championship winning team who beat Ballydesmond in the Duhallow Final, and were narrowly beaten by a Donal Hunt/Declan Barron Bantry Blues in the County Semi-Final.
He also has Examiner Cup and Nevin Cup medals to his credit.
From all in Boherbue, we congratulate you, it’s a well deserved honour for an outstanding gentleman and servant.
Congratulations also his family, Eileen (nee O’ Sullivan) sister of present Cork Selector Gerard O’Sullivan and his children Lorraine, Derek & Sharon.
